Sesame white bread.

Oven temp 400°F Cook time 20-30 min Yield 1 loaf

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter

  • ~3 cups flour
  • 1-1/2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 packet Fleischmann's RapidRise Yeast
  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 egg white
  • sesame seeds, to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine water, milk, and butter in a stovetop-safe measuring cup. Warm on low until it reaches 120-130 degrees.
  2. While butter mixture warms, in a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Stir together with a wooden spoon.
  3. Use a wooden spoon to carve out a well in the flour; slowly pour the butter mixture into the well while cutting ingredients together.
  4. Continue cutting mixture with additional flour until the dough is no longer sticky and wet.
  5. Dust the countertop with flour and knead the dough using your hands for 4-5 minutes.
  6. Cover kneaded dough with tea towel and let rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Grease a glass loaf pan with butter and dust lightly with flour; shake out excess flour on countertop to use in next step.
  8. Remove towel from dough and flip dough over onto the dusted countertop.
  9. With a rolling pin, roll dough into a 12x7 inch rectangle.
  10. Use your hands to gently roll up the dough, from the short side, into a tubular shape. Tuck and pinch the ends of the roll under the dough.
  11. Place into prepped loaf pan. Cover with tea towel, place in a warm location, and let rest for 45 minutes.
  12. After the loaf has rested for 35 minutes, turn on oven to 400F while loaf rests for the final 10 minutes.
  13. Separate egg white and discard yolk. Brush gently onto top of loaf and sprinkle liberally with sesame seeds.
  14. Place loaf in preheated oven and bake for 20-30 minutes, removing when golden.
  15. Let loaf rest for 15 minutes then use a thin knife to score around the loaf and remove from pan.
  16. Let loaf cool before cutting.
